25 Random and personal things about me

Discover Your GreatnessI’ve been tagged by Jack Humphrey. And when a man that you admire tags you then you pay attention!

So here is how this works……

Once you’ve been tagged, you are supposed to write a post with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose five more people to be tagged. You also have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it’s because I want to know more about you. To do this, you simply link to their blogs so that they know you responded to their tag.

You may include the above rules in your post so that the person being tagged knows them, too. You may also want to tweet your post to notify them on Twitter I found out through a Google alert that Jack had tagged me!

How to Achieve Success in Life Through Positive Affirmation

The term affirmation is more thought to exist within New Age and New Thought philosophy, where the practice of positive thinking or even a mental attitude that has been positioned to thinking positively is fairly well known and promoted. The basic premise of positive thinking and affirmation is that is should be bombarded to the mind until it becomes part of the structure of human thinking.

This is done primarily through writing down information and reading it to oneself on a daily basis, or any other form of auditory or visual stimulation. The whole idea behind affirmation and positive thinking also came about by a famous book called The Secret, written by Rhonda Byrne, which was a publishing phenomenon and spread the ideas of affirmation and New Age philosophy to the modern world like a dry brush fire. Psychologists and neurologists also refer to positive affirmation (or affirmation in any form) as a form of neurolinguistic programming, and is a feature of some treatments to deal with children and adults with brain developmental orders. How this relates to success is quite easy to figure out.

Positive messages affirmed into the mind will be able to help anyone achieve success; after all, a positive outlook in life is the first step in gaining a life free of worry. Positive affirmation is a discipline, one which requires some form of diligence to conduct these affirmations on their on, on a daily basis. However, technology has chipped in its 2 cents and what we get is technology that is based on positive affirmations but simplified so that anyone can use them. One of these technologies is the subliminal CD’s which have positive messages embedded into auditory mediums like music, passed through the consciousness and their defences and planted directly into the subconscious mind.

This is the same principle that affirmation works on, but as you can see, much easier to execute and much, much more efficient. Instead of having to constantly bombard one self with the same messages each day, which will lend to most people giving up and burning our, using a CD and listening to it for 20 to 30 mins a day is a much easier solution. And the other good thing is that the messages are covertly embedded in easy listening music, which then transports them directly into the subconscious; less work for the same results, or even better results. This way, you can reprogramme your subconscious mind, change your attitudes and mindsets and kick your bad habits, all from a single CD.
by Greg Frost

Positive affirmation using subliminal techniques are fast gaining popularity in the personal development arena and thousands of people are experiencing their good benefits on a daily basis. You too and in fact, anyone can achieve momentous success with the use of such technology. It can only get better, as many incarnations of more advanced techniques like autogenics and biofeedback are in the cards to be trickled down to consumers like you and me. In the mean time, positive affirmation through subliminal conditioning is good enough to help anyone achieve success in life.

I can make you thin week 4

I was listening to a video by Zig Ziglar who said

“for 24 years of my adult life by choice I weighed well over 200 pounds. I say by choice because you see I have never accidentally eaten anything…. I mean it’s always been deliberate. and when I choose to eat too much today I have chosen to weight too much tomorrow.”

I laughed so hard! My fourth week sees me still eating consciously but not as often as I should be… many times I only remember to chew slowly when I finish my meal! But it’s getting easier and I am still at the weight I last reported so nothing else new.

I am feeling better though and I look thinner in the mirror so I won’t always go by what the scales say but will pay attention to my clothes and the way I look too.

How To Achieve The Best Results With Affirmations

How To Achieve The Best Results With Affirmations

What did you do the last time you thought you had a bad habit? Nothing much, right? Perhaps just told yourself that you can’t continue like this. But telling yourself once can’t really fetch desired results. Repetitively uttering resolutions, instead, does the trick. So how do you go about it? Write down your resolution somewhere and go over it as many times as possible.

Repeating these affirmations day in day out ultimately makes you believe in them. Nowadays, affirmations are so popular that you can even buy them in the form of CD’s and cassettes. It’s great if you, too, want readymade affirmations for yourself. But it’s always better to create your own affirmations (since no one else understands your emotional needs better).

So what exactly should you remember while making your own affirmations? Go through the checklist below and find out-

1.    The first thing that you need to remember is the final purpose of your affirmation. Any affirmation, no matter what purpose it is taken for, should make a person behave positively. For the same reason, the tone of your affirmation should not be negative. Do not use ‘do not’ in your affirmation even if it sounds perfectly correct. Instead, give your affirmation a positive tone. Consider this example- you have a habit of smoking and you create an affirmation that reads- ‘I don’t smoke cigarettes.’ Though the affirmation sounds grammatically right, your mind may take it otherwise. For some odd reason your mind might get stuck to the words ‘smoke cigarettes’ in isolation and you’ll fail to achieve positive results. So your affirmation should read something like this- ‘I should take care of my heart and lungs. Smoking won’t help’.

2.    Next in line is how you make your mind take to the affirmation you have created. Perhaps your affirmation says ‘What I do now will affect my future’. If you actually want to believe in this you have to read it innumerable times. Remember, the biggest secret of making your affirmation work is repetition. But then repetition is not all. So what more do you need? You need to empower your mind so that it can linger over the true meaning of each word. The very first instance you can make your mind linger on ‘I’. Look within and decide whether what you’re doing will nurture your future or not. The very next instant you can focus on how your present actions can actually mould your life in future. Lastly, ask yourself how you’d like to see yourself in future. Repeating your affirmation singularly will not be as beneficial as when you combine that with inflection.

3.    Thirdly and lastly, don’t pressurize yourself too much all at once. Going through an affirmation might seem to be the easiest thing but incorporating it can be really difficult. And this is precisely why you should not aim to improve a number of habits at a single instance- lose weight, improve punctuality, work harder etc. Remember the old saying ‘take one step at a time’ and move ahead to make a success of your affirmation.

Believe in you affirmations- Make them work

Attitude makes all the difference

Attitude makes all the difference by Zig Ziglar.

I love Zig Ziglar and everything he stands for. This video about attitude and how it makes all the difference to your life is really funny.

He makes a great point about most people not wanting to solve their problems. I remember doing my best to provide solutions for a friend who was constantly complaining about the fact that she couldn’t get out of the house because she was a single mom.  She insisted on telling me that if it wasn’t for the fact that she was a single mother she would be out networking and really building her business.

Nothing I said helped her and I realized it was better not to say anything because she actually didn’t want my help, she just wanted to be able to moan about how unfair her life was raising children on her own.  All she really wanted was the attention that telling her story was able to give her.

Are you looking for the attention that goes with your problems or are you truly ready to slove it?

It is easy to know the answer to that question because if all you want is continued attention you will do nothing but complain and never make any effort to change the way that thins are.

In the video I love when Zig Ziglar said “people who are the problem never recognise that they are”

My friend never recognized that it was her talking about the problem that made it a problem! She had family to look after her children, she could even afford to pay for a baby sitter if she wanted to do that but she choose not to and just continued to make her children the problem.

In the video Zig Ziglar provides a great exercise that will help you change the way you feel about your particular problem.  He talks specifically about a woman who does not like her job and the people she works with but you can change the phrase  “I love my job because….” and instead say “I love myself because….” and read out your list while standing in front of the mirror or you can say “I love my life because……”

Stinking thinking will kill your life but gratitude will always enlighten it :)

I had an audio on attitude too so I have added that below.

Ubuntu

UbuntuI have been learning a lot about the word “Ubuntu” that I first heard during a meeting I attended with my daugther run by the Windsor Fellowship. My daughter (digressing a little) has been accepted onto their summer program and will visit Chicago for 15 days during the summer of 2009.

The word means “I am, because you are, because we are” and relates to our connection to each other rather than the separation we tend to live by in terms of color, income, background etc.

It immediately sparked my interest and I found a book by Michael Battle called Reconciliation “The Ubuntu theology of Desmond Tutu”

So I will be writing more as I learn more

Attracting Positive People Into Your Life

According to the natural laws of the universe we are always transmitting positive or negative energy. Others pick up on this and respond likewise.

When you attract like-minded positive people, together you can focus on obtaining your desires. Positive people will encourage and support you. On the other hand, negative people will tell you that you can’t achieve your goals, and that they’re too hard or unreachable.

If you’re continually bombarded with negative phrases in your thinking, such as “I just can’t make ends meet,” “There’s never enough,” or “I just can’t seem to get ahead,” then you’re attracting more negativity into your life.

• The universe will always respond to your song, so make your song harmonious with your desires, not your frustrations!

If you find yourself focusing on your small paycheck, physical ailments or unfulfilling relationships, it’s time to make a change. Maybe your parents were role models of criticism instead of encouragement, or maybe you’ve always surrounded yourself with negative friends.

Whatever the reason, it’s time to break this cycle of negativity. Consider raising your standard of expectation. Find people to associate with who emit positive energy.

When seeking other positive people, think of people you admire and identify their traits you especially enjoy. You’ll be generally attracted to people who have a similar sense of humor or who hold the same set of values.

Here are some ways to attract positive people and create more positive energy in your life:

1. Look for positive qualities in other people. It’s far easier to see someone’s faults before seeing their goodness. Challenge yourself to look only for a person’s good qualities.

2. Be aware of your own finest qualities and project these qualities to the world. This contributes to your self-awareness and increases your self-esteem.

3. Exercise compassion toward everyone, including yourself. Negative energy obsesses about unattainable goals. However, positive energy allows us to realize when we’re doing the best we can.

4. Value others’ opinions. Positive energy is open-minded. Listen to all points of view and do your best to understand them, regardless of how different from your own they are.

Trying to change someone’s mind is usually futile, so, even if you’re right, save your energy, understand their opinion, and move on.

5. Refrain from judging. Give others the benefit of the doubt. Negative energy is critical in judging others and loves finding fault. Judging produces negative energy and attracts more of the same back to you.

6. Be honest. Express your true self in thoughts, words, and actions.

7. Don’t be afraid to admit to having occasional negative thoughts and emotions. We’re all human, and negative thoughts are a part of human nature. The key is not to dwell on them.

8. Celebrate the success and happiness of others. Negative energy is jealous, but positive people are thrilled when others succeed. Use someone else’s success as a motivator to make you a better person.

9. Balance fulfillment and serving others. If you spend your life trying to please others, you may find yourself ignoring your own needs. Positive energy is balanced.

10. Persevere in spite of fear or defeat. We all experience defeat and disappointment! Rather than bemoaning a setback, use it as a chance to learn something new and prepare for your next challenge.

11. Follow your dreams and desires. Embrace your joy every step of the way as you achieve your goals.

People with positive energy approach the world with an open heart and a sense of humor. They refuse to be colored by cynicism and bitterness. They strive to see the best in the world around them, revel in the success of others, and diligently pursue their own goals.

Becoming a positive person today will help you attract more positive people into your life tomorrow. The more positive people that surround you, the more you’ll feel joy, contentment, and fulfillment in your own life!

To follow on twitter or not to follow that is the question

I love twitter and the great micro blogging conversations I can have with people around the world. Not to mention the people who have shared a little about where they live, entertained me with their jokes (I’ve had a few LMAOROFL moments), congratulated me on my good news (I shared my appointment as Membership Manager of Blog$uccess on twitter) and shared life moments.

None of that would have happened if I went on twitter and just stayed connected to the people I know (my pals!).

So below are 21 reasons why I will always follow people on twitter who follow me:

  1. It’s just good manners
  2. Twitter is for people you dont know that you can make friends with – how can you get to know anyone new if you only follow people you know already!
  3. You can ask a question and someone will know the answer – the bigger your network the more chances of someone knowing.
  4. It’s about reciprocal friendships. If everyone decided they weren’t following each other what kind of tool would it be?
  5. Why would you expect me to follow you read your tweets and yet you have no interest in me?
  6. You can build strong relationships with people
  7. You never know who might know someone you want to connect with. 6 degrees of separation and all of that!
  8. Someone you may see as “not worthy” could be putting together the next Google and you miss out on an opportunity to know them while they are “nobody”
  9. You stay in your own community, with your own friends, talking about stuff you all know. What’s the point of that?
  10. You can identify trends when you pay attention to what everyone is talking about – sometimes those “nobodies” are somebody
  11. You miss out on potential future product development. If enough people are asking “how do I…” or “does anyone know a….” you can use that to build a product they want
  12. People like to be part of new innovative ideas and people talk! You miss out on knowing what that might be.
  13. You can only identify important topics by having a large following of people so you can use it as possible research
  14. Offers a new level of connection and relationship building in real time
  15. You can build a community of your own niche where you can learn from them
  16. It’s a community dude…. don’t take it too seriously. In every family is the pain in the ass that talks shit. Twitter is no different!
  17. You don’t need to read EVERY single twitt that comes through so don’t painic about what you might miss if you follow 1,000 people!
  18. If someone is trashing your product or YOU then how will you ever know if you are busy talking to your pals?
  19. I don’t spend my life on twitter I go there when my intuition (or gut feeling) tells me too and usually something great happens
  20. Today I did that and thanks to ChuckZdrojowy I was able to find a tool where I can stop following people who aren’t following me.  If I had decided not to follow him I would never known about it
  21. The tool is here http://friendorfollow.com/ so watch out “gurus” your following might just begin to disappear

I’m off to de-follow a few non-followers. Feel free to follow me on Twitter because I ALWAYS follow back (unless Twitter bans you for some reason then there really isn’t much I can do about that!)
